From 7 to 12 September 2021, the theme ‘the mobility of the future’ will be the focus of this famous ‘International Automobilausstellung’. Some figures and facts: The IAA fair focuses on both B2B and B2C visitors. In 2019, the IAA received 561,600 visitors. Of these, 22% came from abroad. The average age was around 34 years. Like mobility needs, the IAA is innovating with the changed market needs. This year’s fair will present itself in a new, hybrid version: this means that the physical fair will be expanded with a virtual motor show. The physical fair will also take on a new dimension: the indoor showroom will be expanded with outdoor presentations and test locations. All this to make the car fair extra attractive for exhibitors and visitors, and to generate as much reach as possible.
The IAA has moved to Munich for this new outdoor concept. With that, they have left their long-standing base in Frankfurt. In this way, the trade fair organisation VDA wants to grow the IAA from a large showroom with the latest models and classics into a platform for mobility and innovation. For outdoor trade fair activities, the IAA has reserved the main streets and squares in central Munich.
The IAA divides their new concept for exhibitors into three modules:
- Summit – ‘Mobility meets Professionals’. (Exhibition, networking & conference.)
- Blue Lane – ‘Transfer & Test Track’. (Route between Summit in Munich Messe and Open Space in Munich city center.)
- Open Space – ‘Mobility meets Everybody’. Presentations to and interactivity with people in the city.)
